Warren K. Riddle, 82,
of Bay Road, Hamilton, husband of Helen F. (Stranberg) Riddle,
died Friday February 27, 2009 in the Beverly Hospital following
his brief illness.
Born
in Quincy December 22, 1926, son of the late Lester W. and Ruth
(Kemp) Riddle, he was raised in Quincy , and was a 1944 graduate
of Quincy High School. During his years of Army service he
attended North Carolina University, Norwich University, George
Washington University and Northeastern University, where he
completed studies as an engineer.
Married in 1950, the Riddles made their home and raised their
family on Bay Road. For twenty years he was employed as an
engineer at United Shoe Machine in Beverly, later working at
Stone & Webster in Boston and Textron in Wilmington from which
he retired.
Mr.
Riddle was a longtime member of the Christ Church of Hamilton
where he served as a greeter, usher and Sunday School teacher.
He was also a longtime member of the Birka Lodge of Hamilton and
a former member of the Spiran Lodge of Rockport. He enjoyed home
gardening, reading about current events and his annual family
camping trips to North Conway, NH where he loved to swim.
In
addition to his wife of fifty-eight years he is survived by
three daughters, Nancy Pare and her husband Richard of Orono,
ME, Susan Perry of Haverhill and Pamela Morris and her husband
Timothy of Beverly; nine grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Oleson and Elizabeth Hoover
both of CO and many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of
the late James Riddle formerly of Randolph.
His
funeral service will be held Wednesday March 4 at 11 am in the
Christ Church, 149 Asbury Street, Hamilton, followed by
interment with Army Honors in the Hamilton Cemetery. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5
to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street,
Ipswich.
