Virginia M. (Burns) Marc-Aurele

Virginia M. (Burns) Marc-Aurele, 86, of Upper River Road, Ipswich, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Essex Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beverly following her long illness. She was the wife of the late Leo P. Marc-Aurele who died in 1988.

Born in Ipswich August 13, 1927 she was one of the five children of the late William R. and Elinor M. (Jones) Burns. Raised in Ipswich, she was a 1945 Graduate of Ipswich High School.  Married in 1951 the Marc-Aureles built their home and raised their family on Upper River Road. Virginia was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She was a longtime member of the Ipswich United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Leo Paul Marc-Aurele of Evans Mills, NY; five grandchildren, Michael P. Sheppard of Salisbury, Keith R. Sheppard of Lynn, Lea Rausch and Rene Rausch both of New York City and Maxfield Rausch of HI; two sisters, Priscilla A. Wile and Barbarta P. Caputi both of Ipswich, a son-in-law, Dr John Rausch of HI, and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late Sharon Sheppard and the late Sheila Rausch both formerly of HI, and sister of the late Robert Burns formerly of Essex and the late Norma Balser formerly of Ipswich.

Her funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, February 8 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. An hour of visitation will precede the service Saturday from 9 am to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-1-2, Danvers, MA 01923 or Essex Park Activities Department, 265 Essex Street, Beverly, MA 01915.
