Sharyn D. (Tapley) Schnepel

Sharyn D. (Tapley) Schnepel, longtime resident of Woods Lane, Ipswich and loving wife of the late Lawrence S. Schnepel, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in the Kaplan Hospice House, Danvers following a brief illness.

Born in Natick on May 11, 1946, Sharyn was the younger of two children born to the late Thomas A. and Mary (Miller) Tapley.  She was a 1964 graduate of Medfield High School.  She continued her education at University of Maine, Orono graduating with a Bachelorís Degree in education and went on to earn a Masterís Degree from Simmons College in Boston.

Sharyn met her husband in 1967 and Sharyn and Larry were married in Medfield in 1969. They made their home in Salem, NH where they started their family, relocating to Woods Lane in 1976.

Sharyn began teaching home economics at the Ipswich Junior High School in 1968, continuing at the Ipswich Middle School.  She lovingly taught generations of students the skills of cooking, sewing, family and consumer sciences.  She retired in 2004 after 35 years as an educator.

After retirement, she worked at the Craneís Beach Snack Bar and enjoyed volunteer work for the Ipswich Visitorís Center and at the Dinner Bell.

As a young woman, she was an avid tennis player.  Later in life she enjoyed her long walks, gardening, baking, sewing, knitting, quilting, and travel, both in Europe and in the states with her many close friends.

She is survived by a son, Mark G. Schnepel and his wife Kimberly of Groveland; two grandchildren, Payton and Noah Schnepel both of Groveland and a brother, Thomas Tapley and his wife Judy of FL.

Her funeral service will be held at a later date graveside in the Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
