Roslyn V. “Roz” (Comeau) Amerio,
91, of Poplar Street, Ipswich, and wife of the late Robert J.
Amerio, died Monday, October 21,
2013 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following her
brief illness.
Born in Ipswich February 6, 1922,
she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and
Rosilda (Gallant)
Comeau. She was raised in Ipswich
and attended Ipswich Schools. As a young woman she worked at
Sylvania for the Proximity Fuse Project. She married Robert on
April 27, 1945 in Ipswich. They remained and raised their
children in Ipswich. Her first priority was always her family.
She helped care for her late daughter and husband as well as
many extended family members. She enjoyed oil painting, often
giving her creations as gifts. She loved to play games and
cards, and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos. She also
was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish and the Senior Center in
Ipswich. In her later years, her favorite pastime was enjoying
dinner and lunches out with her caregiver
Sande Weinhold. She will be
missed by her constant companion “Honey”, her dog.
She is survived by her four
daughters, Sheila Ramey and her husband James of Ipswich, Sharon
Poor and her husband Peter of Ipswich, Jan
Amerio-MacIsaac and her husband Hugh of Groveland, and
Robin Leonard and her husband Warren of Ipswich; her nine
grandchildren, Jay, Andrea, Jennifer, Amanda, Alyson, Owen,
Molly, Chad and Olivia; her seven great-grandchildren, Ava,
Chase, Evan, Nathan, Collin, William and Samantha; a brother,
Mark Comeau and sister Thelma
Macone of Cape Coral, FL,
sister-in-law Sheila Comeau of
Newburyport, and special friends Anna Muise
andGini Mulcahy,
both of Ipswich. She was the mother of the late Nancy E.
Amerio and John R.
Amerio, and sister of the late
Dorothy DiLorenzo, formerly of
Beverly, Henry Comeau of Newburyport
and John Comeau of West Concord.
Her funeral will be held 9am
Tuesday October 29 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich, followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass
of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Hope Church,
Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours
are Monday 4 to 8 pm. Interment will
be in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Kaplan
Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01929.
