Roderick Gilbert Blessington of Topsfield died peacefully in his
sleep on September 28, 2017 at Brigham Manor in Newburyport. He was
the beloved husband of Deborah Elizabeth Blessington.
Born
July 16, 1931, son of the late James B. and Florence (Steward)
Blessington, he was raised in Marblehead, was a 1950 graduate of
Marblehead High School and attended Nicholas College. Following
school he joined the family trophy business. He was a longtime
Topsfield resident.
Rod
was a devoted husband and father and was a hard working jack of all
trades. He will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh.
In
addition to his wife he is survived by his dear children Kim Lucy
Hingston of New Castle, ME and Mark Tucker Blessington of Topsfield,
his grandsons John and Jeffrey Hingston of Maine, his sister Marilyn
Whalley and nephews Dana and John Whalley of Cape Cod, and nephew
Stewart Blessington and niece Barbara Bucklin of Ipswich. He was
predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law James and Ruth
Blessington and nephew Scott Blessington, all formerly of Ipswich.
Private funeral services are under the direction of the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions may
