Robert M. Young

Robert M Young, Jr, of Essex, 75, husband of Sonia M Young, died at
his home on
November 8, 2007 following a long illness.
He was born on
July 10, 1932 in West Paris, Maine, the son of Robert M and Valerie
(Houle) Young, and attended schools in Roxbury, MA, Portsmouth, RI
and West Paris, graduating from West Paris High School in 1950.
After serving in the Army as a military policeman during the Korean
War, he attended the
University
of Maine, Orono, under the GI Bill and graduated in 1958.
Entering
US government service in 1960, Mr Young was an inspector for the
Food and Drug Administration, and retired in 1987 as an Internal
Security Special Investigator, Internal Revenue Service. He was a
former Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St John the Baptist Church
in Essex.
Mr Young married his wife of fifty-three years, Sonia M Johnson of
West Paris in 1954, and they were parents of ten children, all of
whom survive him, Sharon Bernzweig of West Orange, NJ, Michael Young
of Juneau, AK, Carol Medico of Gloucester, John Young of Anchorage,
AK, Margaret Martin of Merrimack, NH, Jane Czajkoski of Dahlonega,
GA, Thomas Young of Merrimack, NH, Joseph Young of Berkeley, CA,
David Young of Gloucester, MA and James Young of Odense, Denmark.
Also surviving are daughters- and sons-in-law, Amy Young, Carl
Bernzweig, Robert Medico, Anne Young, Naomi Young and Majbritt Young
Christensen. Mr Young was particularly fond of his fourteen
grandchildren, Cliff and Alex Bernzweig, Naomi, Angela and Nicole
Young, Andrew, Amy and Sara Medico, Emily and Alison Martin, David
Czajkoski, Carolyn Young, Ella Young and Chloe Young.
He is also survived by two brothers, James Young of
West Paris and Paul Young of
West Newfield,
ME, and a sister, Laurel Bartlett of
Paris Hill,
ME, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two
sisters, Pauline Smith of West Paris and Alice Smith of Norway, ME.
His funeral will be held
Tuesday November 13, 2007,
8:00 am from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St, Ipswich,
with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Our Lady of Hope Catholic
Church,
Pineswamp Rd,
Ipswich. Family and friends respectfully welcomed. Burial will be at
Lakeview Cemetery, Norway Center, ME. Visiting hours will be Monday
4:00 to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made
to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St, Danvers, MA 01923
