Robert Hartley Doty, 67, of
Gile Street, Haverhill,
formerly longtime of
Ipswich, the beloved husband of Sheila J. (Gallant) Doty,
passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the
Merrimack Valley Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Ipswich, November 22, 1943, son of the late Joseph
and Christine (Bell) Doty of Ipswich, he was raised in
Ipswich, attending public schools. Bob was employed as a
driver by Centre Trucking Service of North Reading for over
thirty years. He enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking,
reading, and playing with his beloved dog Callie. He was a
member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Club.
In addition to his wife of twenty-five years he is survived
by six sons, Paul Doty of Haverhill, David Doty and his
companion Peg of Sandown, NH, Brian Doty and his wife
Kathryn of Danvers, Stephen Comeau and his wife Terry of NJ,
Michael Comeau and his wife Dijana of WI and Bretley Burnett
and his wife Jackie of Wenham; eleven grandchildren; one
great grandchild; three sisters, Nancy Tabor of Ipswich,
Christine Marchulaitis of Greenland, NH and Mary Beres of TX
and many nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 2 to 5
pm with a service at 5 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral
6 High Street,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity
of one’s choice.
