Robert A.
Bratt, 73, died October 24, 2010 peacefully at his home in
Ipswich, after an extended illness.
Born on
November 29, 1936 in Lynn, he was the third of four children
born to Leonard R. and Hildur L. (Anderson) Bratt. He graduated
from Lynn Classical High School and studied music at both
Northeastern University and Boston University. An accomplished
violinist and organist, he played at various churches around
Boston’s North Shore for many years. In 1952, for playing his
violin he won first prize for Junior Instrumentalist at the
North Shore Music Festival at Manning Bowl in Lynn. In 1959 he
married Carol Lee Johnson of Lynn. He had worked at the United
Shoe in Beverly for many years and also for IBM Corp. until his
retirement in 1988.
Mr. Bratt is
survived by his wife Carol Lee, and two daughters, Heidi Bratt
and Lori Lynn, a son-in-law David Lynn, and two granddaughters,
Victoria Lynn and Meredith Lynn, all of Ipswich. He is also
survived by his sister Lois Genis of Marblehead, many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Richard L. Bratt formerly of Holden, and
Carl B. Bratt formerly of Danvers.
His memorial
service will be held Saturday, October 30th at 1:00
P.M. at the Green Street Baptist Church, 179 Green Street,
Melrose. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Arrangements are by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
