Paul Emery Sanborn
Jr, 78, of Mile Lane, Ipswich passed away Wednesday February 14,
2018 in the Blueberry Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,
Beverly after his long illness with kidney disease. He was the
twenty-eight year companion of Marcia Potter.
Paul was born in
Haverhill November 17, 1939, son of the late Paul Emery, Sr. and
Grace (Pierce) Sanborn. He attended Haverhill public schools and
graduated from Haverhill Trade School in 1957. Following
his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, where he
served six years, and later went on to serve ten years in the Army
National Guard.
Paul was very active
in the Haverhill Lions Club and several veteran’s organizations. He
was a past National Chaplain of the Amvets, Past Chaplain of the
Department of Massachusetts Amvets, past National Chaplain of the
Yankee Division Veteran’s Association 26th U.S. Infantry
Division and Past Chaplain of the North Shore chapter. He also was
a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and
Korean War Veterans all of Haverhill. Paul also was a member of the
Scottish Rite, Valley of Merrimac Lodge, Valley of Lowell, Aleppo
Shriners, Valley of Boston, Merrimac Lodge and was an affiliate with
the John T. Heard Lodge in Ipswich.
In addition to
Marcia he is survived by his two sons, Paul Sanborn and his wife
Erin of Plaistow, N.H., David Sanborn of Haverhill; two daughters,
Kelly Sanborn of Haverhill Karen Goudreault of Mississippi, six
grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Sanborn and his wife Barbara of
Amesbury, Lloyd Sanborn and his wife Diana of Haverhill; a sister
Carole Weed and her husband Paul of Rowley; two nieces and several
nephews. He is also survived by Marcia’s daughters, Kerri Larochelle
and her husband Ricci of Ipswich and Nicole Orfanos and her husband
Michael of Rowley and the love of his life, grandson Mikey Orfanos.
Marcia would like to
thank the doctors and staff of the West Roxbury Veterans Medical
Center and the Jamaica Plain Veterans Medical Center for the great
care that was given to Paul over the last twenty years and to Joe
Picard and Bob Silvia for the faithful weekly Bible studies.
His funeral service
with Military Honors will be held 11 am Saturday February 24 in
Locust Grove Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Family and friends
are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of
the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
