Patricia F. Krusell, 83 of Bayview Road, Ipswich, formerly of
Winchester, and wife of Robert N. Krusell, passed away Wednesday
February 21, 2018 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers,
following her long illness.
Born
in Swampscott on June 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late
Otis and Clara (Getchell) Blethen, and was raised in Plainville
CT. Patricia graduated from Plainville High School in 1952
continuing her education at Simmons College, Boston, where she
graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social
Science.
During
her early years Patricia learned the use of woodworking tools from
her grandfather, who as a hobby made many intricate inlays. She also
learned to be an expert seamstress and quilt maker, creating
numerous quilts for the family’s notable occasions. She enjoyed arts
and crafts and from her mother learned to be a great cook, rounding
her into an exceptionally talented person.
Robert
and Patricia were married in 1956 and soon settled and raised their
family in Winchester. For twelve of these years she was employed as
the manager of the Activities Department at the New England
Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn and most recently worked as a
cashier at Market Basket in Rowley for eleven years. Patricia had
served as an active volunteer loving her many hours at the Aleppo
Shrine where she was twice president of the HONS (Women’s
Auxiliary). She was also a longtime member of the Daughters of the
Nile.
After
raising their family, the Krusells retired to Great Neck in Ipswich
and enjoyed many years traveling much of the United States and the
world.
In
addition to her husband Robert N. of sixty-two years she is survived
by four children, Dr. Allan Krusell and wife Sandra of NC, Jean
Krusell of Ipswich, Eric Curtis-Krusell and wife Lori of Dover, Mary
Johnson and husband Kenneth of Swampscott, eleven grandchildren,
Andrew and Scott Krusell, Majid, Malak, Noura, Mazin Rayes and wife
Megan, Paul, Carina and Ian Curtis-Krusell, Nicholas and Anja
Johnson and two sisters, Ann Urquhart and Betsy-Susan Currie.
Her
funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, March 3 in the First
Church in Ipswich, Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich. Family and friends
are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be Friday March 2
from 4 PM to 6 PM in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich. Interment in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge
will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in
Patricia's name to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom
St, Boston, MA 02114.
