Norman A. Ragosta, 79, of Birch Lane, Ipswich, husband of the
late Maria M. (Berardini) Ragosta, died Saturday March 27, 2010
in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, following
the complications of a home accident.
Born in Chelsea February 18, 1931, son of the late Augustus and
Mary (DiBiasi) Ragosta, he was raised in Beachmont, Revere and
was a 1949 graduate of Revere High School. He served four years
in the US Army stationed in France. Following his Honorable
Discharge he was employed in the construction supply
manufacturing business, later taking over the family’s floral
business, Carl’s Flowers in Boston, which he owned and
operated for more than twenty years. He returned to construction
supply sales in the mid 80’s, and he has been employed to date
with Metropolitan Pipe and Supply Company of Cambridge.
Mr.
Ragosta enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, home
tinkering and gardening, his annual Florida vacations with
family and friends, and following the Red Sox.
He
is survived by three daughters, Linda M. Ragosta and her
husband Richard Veno of Kingston, Maria Carroll of Georgetown
and Lisa Broglino and her husband Thomas of Haverhill; three
grandchildren, Kelly Carroll of Ipswich and Ava Broglino and Mia
Broglino both of Haverhill; sister-in-law Ellie Rizzo of
Peabody and two nieces. He was the brother of the late Eugene
Ragosta, formerly of Salem.
His
funeral service will be held 10 am Friday April 2, 2010 in the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday 4
to 8 pm. Interment services will be private.
