Nancy J. (Pimentel)
Godbee, wife of Bobby D. Godbee of High Street, Ipswich, died
Monday, March 6, 2017 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers,
following her long illness.
Born in Chicopee on January 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the
late Anthony F. and Olive I. (Bridges) Pimentel. She was raised in
Chicopee where she attended and graduated from Chicopee public
Schools. Nancy married Bobby D. Godbee on November 17, 1956 and they
made their home in Chicopee, later moving to Beverly Farms and
Peabody prior to settling in Ipswich.
Nancy was a member of Ascension Memorial Church, where she sang in
the choir, was a member of the Altar Guild, was a Lay Eucharistic
Minister and served as Clerk of the Vestry for several years. She
enjoyed playing the organ and had been a guest organist at many
churches on the North Shore and the greater Boston area. She was a
member of the American Guild of Organists. After completing several
courses at Montserrat College of Art, she developed a love for
landscape painting and spent much time in the great outdoors finding
subjects to paint. She worked for a number of years at CBS
Electronics in Danvers as Executive Secretary to the Vice President
and later served as Associate Administrator of Cable Hospital in
Ipswich.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, she is survived by a
brother, Rev. Merle "Skip" Pimentel and his wife Barbara of Ipswich;
her brother-in-law, Sydney Floyd of Chicopee; nieces, Deborah
(Pimentel) Bassett of Ipswich, Susan Pimentel of Dedham, Rachel
(Floyd) Fox of Windsor, CT, and Nancy (Floyd) King of Chicopee, and
nephew, Philip Floyd of Oakfield, NY. She was the sister of the late
Carol (Pimentel) Floyd formerly of Chicopee.
A Memorial service will be held in the Ascension Memorial Church 31,
County Street, Ipswich at a date to announced. Arrangements are
under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
