Nancy L. (Frey)
Damon, 88, of Eagle Hill, Ipswich, died Friday, April 29, 2022 in the
Beverly Hospital following her brief illness. She was the wife of the late
Edwin H. Damon, Jr. who passed in 1991.
Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 18,
1934, one of the two children of the late V. Paul Frey and Helen L.
(Arnold) Frey, and had lived in both PA and CT. She graduated from Grace
New Haven Nursing School and started her career at Grace/Yale New Haven
Hospital. She met her husband on a blind date, married in 1959 and moved
to Ipswich in 1963 where they have since resided and raised their family.
Nancy was employed as a registered nurse at former Cable Hospital in
Ipswich later going on to work at Beverly Hospital from which she retired
from the Surgical Day Care Unit. Later in life Nancy served as a tour
guide and volunteer at Castle Hill, served as a Worthy Matron with the
John T. Heard Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, was a volunteer at the
Senior Center and served on the Vestry at the Ascension Memorial Church.
Nancy was a proud Ipswich resident where she enjoyed her wonderful
days at Eagle Hill and the beaches, and boating.
She also enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and loved Boston sports.
Most of all Nancy loved sharing her life with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, William M. Damon and wife
Joanne of Salisbury, Paul E. Damon and partner Janice Coughlin of Ipswich;
two daughters, Susan D. Hein and husband Daniel of Salem, NH, Cynthia L.
Cappos and husband Stephen of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Kristin Foley
and husband Zachary, Michael Hein, Kenneth Hein, Christopher Damon and
wife Corey, Laura Miglionico and husband Tony, Drew Cappos and fiancée
Andreana Tonelli, and Lee Cappos.
She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Raelyn Reynolds, Connor
Damon, Caroline Damon, Chelsea Damon, Giavanna Miglionico, Autumn Foley,
William Foley, Lielle Cappos, and Luke Cappos, and three nieces, Samantha
Swartz, Gretta Klosevitz, and Jenni Klose. She was the grandmother of the
late Bethany Damon, formerly of Exeter, NH and sister of the late Susan
Swartz and husband Robert Klose formerly of Sebastopol, CA.
Her
funeral service will be 10 am Friday, May 6 in the Ascension Memorial
Church, 31 County St., Ipswich followed by interment in the Highland
Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and
friends are cordially welcomed. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, 4 to
7 pm at the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich.
