Marilyn A. (Dixon) Robie

Marilyn A. (Dixon) Robie, 77, wife of Donald F. Robie of 33 Central Street, Ipswich, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the Anna Jacques Hospital, Newburyport following her long illness.

Born in Hawthorne, NJ October 28, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Carrie (Anderson) Dixson. Raised in New Jersey she relocated with family to Winthrop, Maine where she finished school, graduating from the Winthrop High School, Class of 1954. She continued her education at the Gates Business College in Augusta where she trained for her twenty-nine year employment with the Maine Dept. of Education. Married in 1977 the Robies made their home in  Augusta. They later lived in Old Orchard, ME coming to Ipswich 2005.

Mrs. Robie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Augusta and the Immanuel Baptist Church in Ipswich. She was an accomplished organist having given lessons for over thirty-eight years.

In addition to her husband of thirty-six years she is survived by a brother, Ronald Dixon of Minnesota and brother-in-law Richard A. Robie and his family of Ipswich. 

Her funeral service will be held Thursday July 25 at 10 am in the Immanuel Baptist Church,  45 Central St., Ipswich, MA 01938 followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church  or a charity of one’s choice.
