Margaret M. (Fish) Mazzola

Margaret M. (Fish) Mazzola, 88, wife of Michael Mazzola of Nokomis, FL and longtime resident of High Street, Ipswich, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in the Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota, FL following a brief  illness.

Born in Brookline, March 10, 1925,  daughter of the late Thomas W. and Margaret M. (Nolan) Fish, she was  raised in Brookline and was a  graduate of St. Mary's High School in Brookline. As a young woman she was employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. Married in St. Mary's Church in Brookline on June 20, 1945, the Mazzolas made their home and raised their family in Ipswich. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and loved to cook, crochet and dance. She was a longtime parishoner of St Joseph's Church and Our Lady of Hope Parish in Ipswich, and The Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. She was a devout Catholic, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many.

In addition to her husband, Michael, of sixty-eight years, she is survived by two sons; Thomas V. Mazzola of Ipswich and Daniel J. Mazzola and wife Deborah of Ipswich, and two  daughters; Rosemary M. Daly and  Betty Anne Tavano, both of Sarasota, FL.  Margaret is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth A. Butler and husband Raymond of Sarasota, Claire M. Larson of Brookline, and Joanne T. Fredericks and husband Lawrence of Brookline. She was the mother of the late Nicholas E. Mazzola formerly of Port St. Lucie, FL and Michael J. Mazzola formerly of Boston, and the sister of the late Thomas W. Fish, Jr. formerly of Dedham.

Her funeral will be held 9 am Friday, October 25 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Interment will be in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
