Lorraine D. (Greenleaf) Leet

Lorraine D. (Greenleaf) Leet, 76, wife of Robert H. Leet
of Paradise Road, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Newburyport, in the
company of her loving family, following her long illness.
Born in Eastport, ME October 16, 1932, the only child of
the late Bertrand M. and Doris A. (Carlow) Greenleaf, she and her mother
made their home in Newburyport and later Ipswich, where she attended
public schools. She graduated from Ipswich High School with the Class of
1950.
Following her graduation from the Burdette Business
College in Boston, the Leets married and made their home on Paradise
Road. In addition to raising her family, she was employed as an office
manager and medical secretary, working for several North Shore plastic
surgeons until retirement. In retirement and with a grown family, she
worked as an office manager for the Parkman Chiropractic Clinic in
Seabrook, NH.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends,
reading novels and exploring her geneology.
She was a longtime member of the Byfield Parish Church
and a member of the Heard Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, having
served as their Past Matron and Past Deputy Grand Matron of the Mass.

In addition to her husband of fifty-five years, she is
survived by three daughters, Bonnie McGarrell and her husband John of
Danvers, Cindy Whittle and her husband Charlie of ME and Laurie Silva
and her husband Robert of CT; nine grandchildren, Megan Whittle of ME,
Marie Donovan of NV, Michelle Hiltunen of MA, Kristin McGarrell of NH,
Michael Hiltunen of NY, Jonathan McGarrell of Danvers, Daniel Whittle of
ME, Hannah Silva and Caleb Silva both of CT; four great grandchildren,
Natalie York of ME , Samuel and Owen Donovan of NV and Brooke Corso of
Danvers . She was the mother of the late John Leet, formerly of
Ipswich.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday July 8, at 10
am in The Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family
and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 5
to 8 pm. Interment will be in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
