Lillian M. (Lamothe) Lemire, 88, longtime of Turkey Shore Road,
Ipswich, died Monday October 27, 2008 in the Seaview Retreat,
Rowley, following her long illness.
She was the wife of the late Gaetan A. Lemire who died in 1971.
Born in Ipswich May 28, 1920, daughter of the late Paul N. and
Mary R. (Lavoie) Lamothe, she attended St. Stanislaus School
and was a 1938 graduate of the former Manning High School. As a
young woman she was employed for several years at the former
Pacific Mills in Lawrence. Married in the former St. Stanislaus
Church in 1942, the Lemires made their home on Turkey Shore
Road. When her family was grown she went to work part time as a
secretary for Dr. Petranek for several years, and later worked
as a greeter at VFW events in Ipswich.
She enjoyed singing, dancing, painting scenic vistas in oil and
pastels and spending time with her loving grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Gary M. Lemire and his wife
Kathleen of Lee, NH and Marc G. Lemire and his wife Merry of
Ipswich; four daughters, Gayle Farina of Florida, Diane Naoum
and her husband Stephen of Raymond, NH, Lee-Anne Perkins and her
husband Tobin of Ipswich and Laurie Lemire of Ipswich; ten
grandchildren, Natasha Rufe of Manchester, NH, Marcel Naoum of
Raymond, NH, Gillian Wolcott of Haverhill, Nathan Lemire and
Jacob Lemire both of Lee, NH, Adam Lemire, Jessica Lemire, Erica
Stone, Ashley Perkins and Liza Barlow all of Ipswich; two great
grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday morning October 30,
2008 at 10 am in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting
hours are Wednesday 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of the North
Shore, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
