Lillian D. (Harris) Dunbar

Lillian D. (Harris) Dunbar, 86, long time resident of Ipswich, died Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Beverly Hospital following her brief illness.

Born in Ipswich June 3, 1924 daughter of the late Fred D. and Mildred C. (Fewkes) Harris, she was a 1943 graduate of Ipswich public schools and a graduate of the New England Baptist School of Nursing. For most of her nursing career she was employed as a RN at the former Cable Memorial Hospital.  After her retirement she wintered in Leesburg, Florida.  As a retired nurse she volunteered at a medical center in Leesburg.  Active in a variety of interests, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, home arts and crafts and tracking her favorite NASCAR driver.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. "Our Mom was a Rock Star" and she will be missed.

She is survived by three sons, John D. Greenhalgh and Diane of NH, Robert F. Greenhalgh and his companion Annmarie Baldisserotto of Rowley and Harold E. Greenhalgh of Ipswich, two daughters Joan E. Bishop and her husband Tom of Manchester and Susan A. Ainsworth and her husband Richard  of Ipswich; three grandchildren Dawn D. Ames of Salisbury, Mickey Greenhalgh of Hampton, NH and Melissa Lane of Essex; four great grandchildren, Tori, Zach, Blain and Nicholas; and a sister, Priscilla R. Harris of Ipswich. Her funeral service was held Friday, November 12, at 11 am graveside in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
