Lawrence
S. (Larry) Schnepel of Ipswich passed away peacefully at home on
April 8, 2012 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of
Sharyn Tapley Schnepel for over forty-two years, the loving father
of son Mark and his wife Kimberly of Groveland, and a very proud
“Gampy” to granddaughter Payton and grandson Noah. Larry is also
survived by his mother Maybelle Schnepel of Cochituate, brother
Frederick and his wife Melody of Hudson, NH, sister Cynthia Penny
and husband John of Edenton, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Larry
was born in Elmira, NY, to Maybelle and the late Lawrence Schnepel.
The family moved to Cochituate where he spent his childhood,
graduating from Wayland HS in 1959. In 1963 he enlisted in the USAF
and proudly served his country until 1967. He then began a
thirty-one year engineering career at Raytheon, mainly in Bedford,
but traveling wherever the company asked. He met his wife in 1967
and they married in June 1969 in Medfield. They first resided in
Salem, NH, then moved to Ipswich, their home since 1976. Larry loved
his family and his Ipswich home, and frequently used his handyman
skills to assist neighbors and friends. A memorial service will be
held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich. Those wishing may contribute in his memory
to Ipswich Caring, c/o The First National Bank of Ipswich, Market
Street, Ipswich, MA 01938.
