Kenneth J. Nickerson, 60, died
peacefully in Burlington, surrounded by his family on Thursday,
August 11, 2011.
Born in Somerville, he was the son of
the late Herbert and Barbara Nickerson. He spent the majority of his
life as a truck driver for Severance Trucking Company in Woburn,
before partially retiring and working as a custodian at the Winthrop
Elementary School in Ipswich. He especially enjoyed his time at
Winthrop where he grew close to a number of the students and
faculty. In his free time, he loved spending time with family,
working outside on his farm, and listening to music from his
extensive record collection. He also enjoyed traveling, and set
aside time each year to take his wife to Jamaica. He will be
remembered by those who knew him as a man who always put others
first, and who never shied away from an opportunity to make his
peers laugh.
He will be greatly missed by his
loving wife Patricia, and his three sons Paul, Nathan and James.
His funeral service will be held
Monday August 15 at 1pm in the Immanuel Baptist Church, 45 Central
Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Visiting hours are Sunday 4 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral
Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, contributions may
be made in his memory to Ipswich Caring, c/o 31 Hodgkins Drive,
Ipswich, MA 01938.
