Joseph C. Barowy, 66, of Honolulu, Hawaii, formerly of High Street,
Ipswich, died Monday, November 23, 2009 in the Queens Hospital,
Honolulu following his long illness.
Born in Newburyport April 7, 1943, son of Lorraine (Duggan) Barowy
of Ipswich and the late Joseph Barowy, he was a 1961 graduate of
Ipswich High School.
For
many years he has been employed by North West Airlines as a Ground
Chief Supervisor, retiring in 2006 after receiving numerous
awards for his record of achievement during his career.
He
enjoyed his years of extensive world travel, riding his motorcycle
around the Hawaiian Islands and cooking for his family and friends.
He also enjoyed playing fill-in rolls on television programs with
his uncle Robert Duggan who was a regular on many programs.
Fill-in’s included the Red Skelton and Carol Burnett Shows among
many. He’ll also be remembered for his intense sense of humor and
the practical jokes he played on his friends.
In
addition to his mother he is survived by a son Joseph Barowy of
Ashburn, VA; a daughter, Nicole Houle and her husband Phillip of
Herndon, VA; a granddaughter Natalie Houle also of Herndon; a
brother, James Barowy and his wife Jean of Simi Valley, CA; two
sisters, Judith Cosgrove and her husband Marty of Weymouth and
Janice Gillissen and her husband Raymond of Ipswich; his former wife
Linda Bouzianis of Herndon, VA and several nephews and nieces.
His
funeral will be held Saturday December 5, 10 am from the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by a
Funeral Mass at 11 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Linebrook Road,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting
hours are Friday 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be in the St. Mary's
Cemetery, Newburyport.
