James E. White

James E. White of Linebrook Road, Ipswich, beloved husband of Marie (Dion) White, died on January 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Beverly, he graduated from Beverly High School and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Jim was retired from the Navy and spent much of his career as a production engineer at Gloucester Engineering.

Jim enjoyed his camp at Bryant Pond, Maine for many years with his children and grandchildren. He loved boating, fishing and woodworking in his home shop. He enjoyed his numerous friends immensely.

In addition to his wife Marie he is survived by a son, Jeffrey J. White of Kennebunkport, Maine; two daughters, Wendy W. Wilson and her husband Richard of Laconia, NH, and Kathy W. Gallant and her husband Richard of Ipswich; six grandchildren, Sheanna Zimmerman, Christopher and Elizabeth Wilson, James and Whitney Gallant, and Jesse White; five great grandchildren; a brother, John White of Ipswich; two sisters, Alice Ellsworth of NH, and Donna Barrett of SC; and many nephews and nieces.

The celebration of a funeral Mass will be held 10 am Monday, January 25, in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Rd., Ipswich followed by interment with Military Honors in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Friday 4 to 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
