James R. Whatmough
James R. Whatmough, 80, of Sagamore St., South Hamilton, husband
of Frances (Lindsay) Whatmough, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in
the Essex Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Beverly,
following his long illness.
Born in Revere February 2, 1928 son of the late Robert J. and
Evelyn (Randall) Whatmough, he was raised in Lynn and was a
graduate of Lynn Classical High School. During WWII he served an
enlistment in the Navy . Married in 1949, the Whatmoughs made
their home and started their family in West Lynn, moving to
Sagamore Street in 1962. For many years he was employed as a
printer for the Wright and Potter Co. in Boston and later for
the Bowne Co. of Boston from which he retired in 1992. He
enjoyed his work, animals of all kinds, and he especially loved
his three cats. He was a member of the D.A.V.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years he is survived by a
son, Robert L. Whatmough and his wife Jacqueline of Concord, NH;
a daughter, Marilyn Lattin and her husband James of Menlo Park,
CA; grandchildren Molly Whatmough, Alex and Lindsay Lattin;
sisters Emily Termini and her husband Joe of Groveland
and Marilyn Donovan of Ipswich, and many nephews and nieces. He
was the brother of the late Norma Osborn formerly of Hampton,
NH.
His funeral service with Naval Honors will be held Tuesday June
10 at 11 AM graveside in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are
Monday 6 to 8 PM in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
St., Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his
name may be made to the MSPCA- Angell Headquarters, 350 South
Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130
