James A. Washnock,
68, loving husband of Cathy (Marchese) Washnock,
passed away peacefully at his Ipswich home on Thursday morning, July
14, 2011.
The
son of Joe and Lena Washnock, was born and raised in Uniontown,
Pennsylvania, one of four children. Following his graduation from
West Virginia University in 1967, he began his career in medical
equipment sales. Whether it was running with his border collie at
his side, landscaping in his yard, taking on the next home
improvement project, or keeping up with his children, Jim was
always active throughout his life. More recently, in addition to
staying busy around his own house in Ipswich, he
enjoyed weekend road trips to Maine with Cathy, helping Mikkel with
several home improvement projects at his home in Stamford, sharing
his knowledge of the medical industry with Lauren, a nurse, or
driving his classically restored 1953 Ford F-100. He was fortunate
to spend a lot of his time doing what he enjoyed best - being with
his grandchildren, Maddie and Butchie.
In
addition to his wife Cathy of forty-three years, he is survived by
his son, Mikkel and his wife Effy of Stamford, CT; his daughter
Lauren, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Madelyn and David
“Butchie” Hanson of Essex; three sisters
and their husbands, Martha Piszczor of
New Salem, Pennsylvania, JoAnn
and Ralph Salvato of Uniontown, Pennsylvania,
and Kathy and Dan
Morris of Melrose Park, Illinois, and
several generations of nieces and nephews.
A
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 am Tuesday, July 19th at Our Lady
of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road in Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully welcomed. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that donations be made in his name to the American Cancer
Society PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or the Wounded
Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675-8517.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich.
