Huffcut Sr., 87, of Linebrook Road, Ipswich, beloved husband of
Eleanor (Rachwal) Huffcut, passed away peacefully after a short
illness, Thursday March 3, 2011 in Danvers.
Born in Buffalo,
NY, October 4, 1923 he was a graduate of Riverside High School
and the University of Buffalo. He served in the Army Air Corp
during WWII. He was a licensed Civil Engineer and land
surveyor, partner in several engineering firms, and town
engineer for many years. He served on the Town of Tonawanda
Planning board for twenty-one years and was president of the
state and local chapter of the Water Pollution Control
Association, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and tax preparer
for the elderly.
He will always
be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and
friend. He enjoyed volunteering, helping others and sharing good
times with family and friends, especially at the family farm in
East Otto, NY.
In addition to
his wife of 62 years, he is survived by four children, Nancy
Orsini of Rochester, NY, James A. Huffcut Jr. and his wife Jan
of Georgetown, TX, Robert J. Huffcut and his wife Rosanne of
Tonawanda, NY and Jody Huffcut and Paul Vihonsky of Ipswich,
seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
service will be held Saturday March 12, 2011, 11 am at Ascension
Memorial Episcopal Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements by the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
