Helen R. (Chizmar) LeBlanc, 90,
formerly longtime of Pleasant Street, Ipswich, died Friday, February
18, 2011 at the Radius Healthcare Center, Danvers following her
lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late
Charles G. LeBlanc.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio Ocotber
16, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Anna (Kachmer)
Chizmar, she was raised in North Jackson, Ohio and attended local
schools. A graduate of North Jackson High School, she was Class
Valedictorian of the Class of 1938 and was the recipient of a
Varsity Letter in basketball. She met her late husband at a USO
dance in Pennsylvania. Married in Ohio in 1948, the LeBlancs
returned to her husband’s hometown, Ipswich, where they raised their
family. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper at the former
Grossman’s Lumberyard in Ipswich. She was an active communicant of
the former St Stanislaus Parish in Ipswich. The LeBlancs were avid
square dancers.
She is survived by two sons,
Leonard C. LeBlanc and his wife Sheila Heil of West Rotonda, Florida
and Claude J. LeBlanc of Harrison, Maine; two grandchildren, Lenore
LeBlanc of Ipswich and Rachel LeBlanc of Northport; three great
grandchildren, Curtis, Mariah and Kayla Meader all of Ipswich, and a
sister, Josephine Chizmar of Youngstown, Ohio. She was the sister of
the late John and Edward Chizmar, both formerly of Youngstown.
Her funeral will be held Friday,
February 25, 8 am from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass at 9
am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday 4 to
8 pm. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
