Harold F.
Foote, 82, husband of the late Rose (Furnari) Foote of Willowdale
Dam, Ipswich, died on Friday January 11, 2008 at the Kaplan Family
Hospice House, Danvers, after lengthy illness, surrounded by his
family.
Born in Salem
June 22, 1925 he was the son of the late Chester Lloyd and Kathleen
(Eagin) Foote of Beverly. Raised in Beverly, he attended Beverly
High School (class of 1944) leaving to enlist in the Navy during
WWII. Harold served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific
Theater in the LCT Squadron 24 and was honorably discharged. He
later received his diploma in 2000 through a special Veterans
diploma program for those who had not had the opportunity to
graduate because of war time service. In 1955 he co-founded Foote’s
Canoe Rentals, a family run canoe livery, with his late wife Rose at
Willowdale Dam, Ipswich. Prior to and during the start up of the
canoe rental business, he was employed as an industrial
photographer. In addition to his family he enjoyed his time spent on
the banks of the river and sailing.
He is survived

Michael J. and wife Alexandra of Haverhill and Kristen B. Foote and
husband Claudy Jean-Charles of Georgetown; grandchildren Cyrus Foote
of LaJolla, CA, Heather Bradley of
Holland, PA, Rachel Henry of Lynn, John Henry of Windham, ME, Jamie
Foote of Peabody, Nicole Foote of Saugus, Jason Foote of
Newburyport, Novemba-Lee Stranc of S. Berwick, ME, Alicia Foote of
Rowley, Christopher Player of Johnson, VT, Nicholas Player of
Topsfield, Brandon Hill of Georgetown, Brittany Hill of Georgetown,
David Hill of Georgetown, Michael Foote of Salisbury, Amanda Foote
of Salisbury, Mason Foote of Haverhill, Lyla Foote of Haverhill,
Alexander Jean-Charles of Georgetown, and Ethan Jean-Charles of
Georgetown, great- grandchildren, Kyle Bradley and Devon Bradley
both of Holland, PA, Tyler Stranc of S. Berwick, ME and Noah Henry
of Windham, ME, sisters of Elazabeth M. Foote of Ipswich and
Barbara K. (Foote) Larson of Brooksville, ME, and many nieces and
nephews.
He was the
brother of the late Robert A. Foote of Warwick, MA, and father in
law of the late Linda Foote of Peabody.
His funeral
will be held Tuesday 8 am from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6
High St., Ipswich, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 9
am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Rd., Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Monday 4 to 8
pm. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Cowles Memorial
Cemetery, Ipswich.
