Gerry G. Tinkham

Gerry G. “Tink” Tinkham, 76, of Central Street, Ipswich, husband of
M. Frances (Ball) Tinkham died Friday December 4, 2009 in the
Beverly Hospital following his long illness.
Born October 31, 1933 in Middleton, son of the late Clarence and
Ethel (Gray) Tinkham he was raised in Danvers where he attended
public schools. As a young man he worked on the family farms in
Danvers and Newburyport. For more than thirty years he owned and
operated the G. Tinkham Trucking Company of Ipswich. In his leisure
time he enjoyed working on his trucks and automobiles and playing
harmonica in North Shore Country and Western bands.
In addition to his wife of thirty years he is survived by four sons,
Dana Tinkham and wife Debbie of Salisbury, Phil
Tinkham
and wife Mary of Salem, Bruce
Tinkham
and wife Valerie of Peabody and Mark
Tinkham
and wife Jodi of Peabody; two daughters Kimberly Sauchuk and
husband Peter of Danvers and Lisa Ramos of Peabody; two brothers,
WayneTinkham
and Daniel Tinkham both of Danvers; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen
great grandchildren; his former wife Marilyn Thomas of Peabody and
many nephews and nieces. He was the father of the late Brian
Tinkham,
formerly of Washington, DC and brother of the late Malcolm
Tinkham
of Danvers, Michael
Tinkham
of FL, Gene
Tinkhamof
ME, Gerald
Tinkham
of Newburyport and the late Jane Rioux of CA.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 11 am
in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed
by burial in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends
are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4 to 8 pm.
