George Edward Weagle

George Edward Weagle, 87, born in Ipswich on December 19, 1926, son of the late George “Cliff” and Beatrice “B” (Tufts) Weagle of 6 Kinsman Court in Ipswich Massachusetts, died on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers following his long illness. He was the husband of the late Doris J. (Smith) who died in 1983. George and Doris were married at the age of 18 and raised four children. 


A graduate of Ipswich public schools, George Weagle was a specialist working with fiberglass who had a long career in the industry until retiring from Fiberglass Plus in Biddeford Maine as Vice President of Quality Control where he serviced major corporations such as Boston Whaler. Mr. Weagle was a Navy veteran stationed in Italy during World War 2, maintaining true affinity for the Navy and the proud nation he once defended. A tremendous faith and love of God was the backbone upon which all things in Mr. Weagle's life was built. 

A truly kind and generous man, Mr. Weagle was always the first to visit those who were ill or in need. 
While he loved both college and pro sports, and was himself an exceptional bowler, His church, First Congregational in Ipswich, where he served as Deacon and Lay Minister, was his true passion and calling in life. during the latter part of his life most of his time was spent reading theological texts and filing in as preacher at his church. 
 
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey Weagle of Florida, two daughters, Carol Allen and her husband “Butch” of Ipswich, Joyce Barnes of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Whittier of Maine, Paul Allen-Webber of Rowley,  Shelley Meenagh of Ipswich, William Weagle of Hamilton, Amy Dubois of Hamilton, Amanda Merry of Amesbury, Marc Merry of Ipswich; four great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and his best friend and loving companion of many years Katherine Atkinson, now of Hernando, FL. He was the sister of the late Robert Weagle formerly of Ohio, Geraldine Manthorne formerly of Derry, NH and Virginia Comeau formerly of Ipswich.
 

His funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, June 13 in the First Church in Ipswich, Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich, followed by interment with Military Honors in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
