George H. Leet, 80,
formerly of Summer Street, Ipswich, died Monday, December 5, 2016 in
the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center, Beverly following his brief
Born in Ipswich June
22, 1936 he was the son of the late James W. and Dorothy G. (Cline)
Leet. Raised in Ipswich he was a 1954 graduate of the former Whipple
High School in Ipswich. Mr. Leet served with the U.S. Air Force as
an air traffic control radar operator at McGuire Air Force Base in
NJ. Following his discharge and return to Ipswich he worked briefly
at the former A&P in Ipswich and then and for twenty-three years, he
was employed by the Town of Ipswich as a building maintenance and
He was a longtime
member of the United Methodist Church of Ipswich and a former member
of the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by
two sons, Robert A. Leet of Ipswich, Thomas J. Leet of Exeter, NH; a
brother, Paul Leet of MI; a sister, Doris Bergeron of NH; a
granddaughter, Caitlin Leet of Ipswich and many nephews and nieces.
He was the brother of the late Robert J. Leet formerly of Monson,
ME, Chester A. Leet formerly of Salisbury, Walter J. Leet formerly
of OK and James Robert Leet.
His funeral service
with Military Honors will be held 10 am, Wednesday, December 14
graveside in the New Highland Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under
the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
