George H. Kay, 78, of
Sweeney Road, Keene, New Hampshire, loving husband of Karen
(Tidwell) Kay, passed away August 12, 2010 in his home following
his long illness.
Born
in Worcester, July 12, 1932, he was the son of the late George
H. and Ethel (Johnson) Kay. He was raised in Worcester and was a
graduate of North High School. He graduated from Worcester
Polytechnic Institute in 1954 and continued his studies in
master’s programs at Syracuse University and Northeastern
University. He was employed for many years at RCA and Raytheon
where he worked on the lunar landing module for the space
program. For the last twenty years of his career he was a
quality control engineer and manager with GTE, retiring in 2000.
He was an accomplished Lifemaster bridge player, having played
in national tournaments. An avid square dancer, he served on the
executive boards of many New England Square and Round Dance
Associations and conventions.
In
addition to his wife of thirty-one years, he is survived by
three daughters, Debra Kay of FL, Sandra Capano of Raynham, and
Brenda Weis if Gaithersburg, MD, a step-daughter, Heather Acone
of FL, four granddaughters, a grandson, three
great-grandchildren, and a sister, Diane Waidelick of Boothbay
Harbor, ME.
A
memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements
are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of
Ipswich, MA.
