Frederick L. Hoosick

Frederick L. Hoosick, 88, husband of Caroline T. (Maylum) Hoosick of Maple Street, Middleton, passed away peacefully in his home on March 21, 2016.

Born in Montville, CT, the son of the late John M. and Jeanne (La Vallie) Hoosick, he was raised in Northfield and was a 1945 graduate of Greenfield High school. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served at nine Coast Guard Stations across the United States including Hawaii. Following his tour of duty he eventually relocated to Andover where he met his wife.

Educated at Merrimack College, he earned a Liberal Arts degree and continued his education at various schools to earn an Industrial engineering degree and devoted the greater part of his career working for Raytheon Corporation in the missile system division.

Frederick loved to travel and explore New England with his wife and children. He was attracted to area history and cultural sites with a special interest in lighthouses and railroads. He and his wife traveled throughout much of the West while visiting their son residing in Idaho. Later in life he grew passionate about gardening and ornamental landscaping creating beautiful flower gardens around his home.

In addition to his wife Caroline of sixty-five years he is survived by two sons, Stephen Hoosick of Middleton and Christopher Hoosick and his wife Laraine of Coeur D Alene, ID; a daughter, Andrea Hoosick and her fiancée’ William Stevens of S. Hamilton; a sister Patty Bronsdon and her husband  Ben of Jupiter, FL; six grandchildren, Leah, Ryan, Anna, Ryan, Rachel, and Haley, and a great grandson, Bryce. He was predeceased by a son, Andrew S. Hoosick.

No words can express how much Fred will be missed. He will be in our hearts forever. As our father would often say at the end of each conversation, “And that’s all that’s fit to print.”

His funeral service with Military Honors will be held 11 am Thursday, April 21 in the Oakdale Cemetery, Maple Street, Middleton. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
