Estelle (Beck)
Bolles, 93, wife of the late Gardiner A. Bolles, died Sunday, April
3, 2011 in the Anna Jaques Hospital following her long illness.
Born in Lawrence,
October 29, 1917, daughter of the late Alfred E. and Sarah B.
(Greenwood) Beck, she was raised in Lawrence, a graduate of Lawrence
public schools. She continued her education at Simmons College in
Boston, going on to graduate from Webber College in Babson Park,
Florida. Married in Lawrence in 1939, the Bolles lived and raised
their family on Woods Lane, Ipswich. With a grown family they
relocated to Mulholland Drive, wintering in Florida, later residing
at Great Hill, Topsfield.
As a young woman she
was employed during WWII at Sylvania in Ipswich. In the mid 1960’s
she owned and operated the gift shop at the Hart House in Ipswich
and since 1966 she has owned and operated the Loom and Shuttle in
Ipswich.
Mrs. Bolles was a
past member of the Ipswich Woman’s Club.
She is survived by a
son Russell S. Bolles of Meredith, NH; two daughters, Sally B.
Clancy and her husband Timothy of Venice, FL and Jane B. Dan and her
partner George Ferance of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, Todd Clancy
of Newburyport, Sarah Rheude of NY, Tracy Pignone of Ipswich, Jody
Hayes of N. Andover, and Heidi Willis, Hans Strauch and Lorraine
Duvall all of Byfield; three great grandchildren and a great great
grandchild.
Her funeral service
will be held Saturday April 9 at 10 am in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High St., followed by interment in the Southside
Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Visiting hours are Friday 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in her name may be made to the First Church Memorial
Fund, First Church in Ipswich, One Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich, MA
01938 or to a charity of one’s choice.
