Edward Rauscher
Edward Rauscher, 86, formerly of Argilla Road,
Ipswich, the loving husband of the late Barbara (Ewing) Rauscher, died
peacefully Thursday, July 29, 2021 of natural causes.
Ed was born on August 13,
1934 in Beverly, son of the late Frederick L. and Matilda (Wells) Rauscher
and was raised in Hamilton. At the age of eleven Ed was taken in by the
Feltis family, following the passing of his father and his mother two
years previous.
He attended Hamilton High School, where
he played football and enjoyed acting in school plays. Upon graduation
from high school, Ed joined the United States Navy to ‘see the world’ and
was stationed in Brooklyn Navy yard until his medical discharge for
Scarlett and Rheumatic fever.
In 1957 he joined the Ipswich Police
Force, a career that lasted thirty-seven years and filled him with great
joy.
Ed was a longtime member of
the Ascension Memorial Church, John T. Heard Masonic Lodge AF&AM and a
Shriner for over sixty years. He gladly served for a time as the outreach
lead for John T. Heard lodge, giving comfort and support to fellow Masons
and their families at times of illness and death.
He enjoyed golfing, boating in Ipswich
and surrounding environs on his 18-foot powerboat the “Seafox,’and
visiting his sister Jean and family in Utah and his brother Bill and
family in Florida.
Ed and Barbara will fondly be remembered for
hosting raucous family cookouts and holiday parties they so enjoyed.
Ed is survived by three
daughters and a son, Deborah Chittick of Beverly, Brenda D’Alelio of
Ipswich, Rebecca Vogt and her husband Mark of Camden, ME, and Edward
Rauscher and his wife Casey Madinger of Ipswich; four grandchildren, Adam
Chittick and his wife Amanda of Oakdale, CT, Matthew Chittick and his wife
Katie of Reading, Stephanie Tanguay and her husband Dan of Haverhill, and
Hayden Vogt of Camden, ME; six great grandchildren, Brady and Cooper
Chittick both of Oakdale, CT, Matthew Jr. and Benjamin Chittick both of
Reading, Izzy and Noah Tanguay both of Haverhill, and many nephews and
nieces. In addition to his wife Barbara, he was predeceased by two
brothers, Bill Rauscher of FL and Fred Rauscher of OH, two sisters, Jean
Lampropoulos of UT and Ida Pementon of OH, and a granddaughter, Sarah
Chittick of Rockport, ME.
His funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, August 6 in the Ascension
Memorial Church, 31, County Street, Ipswich followed by interment with
Military Honors in the Hamilton Cemetery. Family and friends are cordially
welcomed. Due to Covid restrictions we request attendees either be
vaccinated or wear a mask. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to
7 pm with a Masonic Service at 6 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6
High Street, Ipswich. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his
name may be may to the Ipswich Police Association Scholarship Fund, 15 Elm
Street, Ipswich, MA 01938 or John T. Heard Lodge, 70 Topsfield Road,
Ipswich MA 01938.
