Doris Myrtle (Clain) Hersey, 92, formerly of Beverly and wife of the late Reginald R. Hersey, died Thursday May 14, 2009 in the Winship Nursing Center, Bath, ME, following her long illness.

Born in Beverly July 28, 1916, daughter of the late Bruce and Laura J. (Montgomery) Clain, she was raised and educated in Beverly. A homemaker most of her life, she was a loving wife and devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her family. 

She is survived by her three children, Sandra Griffin of Edgecomb, Maine, Donna Hersey of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Dana Hersey of Ipswich; six grandchildren, Scott Griffin of Edgecomb, Maine, Gregory Griffin of Wiscasset, Maine, David Chadder and Jenny Northrup of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Foster and Amanda Hersey both of Ipswich; five great-grandchildren, Joshua Griffin of Lewiston, Maine, Jacob Griffin of Dresden, Maine, Ashley Griffin of Edgecomb, Maine and Conrad Griffin and Cody Griffin of Wiscasset, Maine; and one great-great-grandchild Riley Manhardt of Bath, Maine. 

Her funeral service will be held Friday May 22, 11 am graveside in the North Beverly  Cemetery, Beverly. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
