 Dale E. Dudgeon

Dale E. Dudgeon, 91, formerly of County Road, Ipswich, and husband of the late Marcia L. (Gillespie) Dudgeon, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 in the Den-Mar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rockport.

Born in Britt, Iowa on March 2, 1928, son of the late John E. and Hilma (Johnson) Dudgeon, Dale was raised on the family’s farm in Britt where he attended and graduated public schools. Married in 1964 in Danvers, the Dudgeons soon made their home on Howe Street for ten years, then on County Road in 1975. For thirty-five years Dale was the owner and operator of Vetpro of Ipswich, selling agricultural veterinary medicines, retiring in 1993.

Dale attended the First Church in Ipswich and for many years was a member of the YMCA in Danvers and Manchester Tennis Club where he enjoyed tennis, badminton and playing chess with his friends. He also enjoyed classical music and had written several musical productions for area theaters.

He is survived by two sons, Steven D. Dudgeon of Lake Wales, FL, Matthew D. Dudgeon  of Haverhill; three daughters, Carol E. Schoendorff and her husband Lou of Virginia, Jill A. Dudgeon of Boston, Claudia L. Dudgeon of Ipswich; four grandchildren, Jeremy Sears of Salem, Michele Hayes of Lake Wales, Florida, Willa Dudgeon of Amesbury, Bodhi Dudgeon of Amesbury; three great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gloria Dudgeon of Britt, Iowa and many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Shirley Dudgeon formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, Floyd Dudgeon formerly of California and Wayne Dudgeon formerly of Britt, Iowa.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, February 27 at noon, graveside in the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to Care Dimensions, B-102, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
