Carol Durgin, 68, formerly of
Caroline Avenue, Ipswich died Friday December 7, 2007 in Caldwell
Skilled and Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following her extended
illness.
Born in Haverhill February 4, 1939 the only child of the late
Phillip R. and Harriett (Richardson) Bradbury, she was raised in
Ipswich and Haverhill and was a 1957 graduate of Haverhill High
School. Married in1958 the Durgins made their home for next twelve
years on Bunker Hill Road in Ipswich. As a young woman she was
employed for several years as a secretary at the United Shoe Machine
Company in Beverly. She was later employed as a home healthcare
worker for the Beverly Visiting Nurse Association and most recently
she was employed in the food services department at the Agawam
Village.
Mrs. Durgin was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed her grandchildren,
arts and crafts, sketching in ink and charcoal, and her poodle
Skeeter.
She is survived by a son, Phillip R. Durgin and his wife Constance
of Wenham; two daughters, Tracy L. Brown and her husband Stephen of
Ipswich and Wendy G. Balser and her husband Richard of Ipswich, and
six grandchildren, Joanna and Phillip Durgin, Jr. both of Wenham,
Christopher and Samantha Brown both of Ipswich, Dan A. Durgin of
Englewood, FL and Amber L. Hughes of Ipswich. She was the former
wife of the late Daniel A. Durgin formerly of Wenham.
Private arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich.
