Carol L. Chambers, 71, longtime resident of Linden Street, Ipswich,
died Thursday September 22, 2011 in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and
Nursing Center, Beverly following her extended illness.
Born in Ipswich, February 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late
Charles M. and Mildred E. (Day) Chambers. Carol was raised in
Ipswich and was a 1958 graduate of Ipswich public schools and the
Burdett Business School of Lynn. Employed as the secretary to the
principal of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, she worked
through five administrations, retiring in 2006.
Carol enjoyed ceramics, baking cookies for her family and friends
and the special time she spent with her great nephew Colby.
She was a lifelong member of the First Church in Ipswich.
She is survived by a sister, Joyce M. Ouellette and her husband
Roger; two nieces, Kristen Kato and her husband Junya and Jennifer
Ouellette, and a great nephew, Colby Kato all of Georgetown, and
several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, September 26, 2011, 11 am
in the First Church in Ipswich followed by interment in the New
Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Visiting hours are Sunday 4 to 8 PM at the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her
name, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the First Church Memorial
Fund, 1 Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich, MA 01938 or a charity of one’s
choice.
