Beatrice A.
(Monaghan) Doucette, 83, formerly of Essex, died Tuesday, March 27,
2018 in the Baker-Katz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Haverhill
following her long illness. She was born in New Brunswick Canada on
May 16, 1934 and was the adopted daughter of the late Harry M. and
Grace M. (Scribner) Monaghan. She came to Essex in 1951, making her
home on Bothways Farm. Following her marriage she moved to Apple
Street. For several years she worked in the Essex Post Office as
both a clerk and door to door delivery. For many years she also
worked as a waitress at Skipper’s Galley in Essex. Beatrice later
lived on Burnham Court, before relocating to Amesbury and Rowley,
and most recently lived on Caroline Avenue in Ipswich.
She was a longtime
member of the First Universalist Church of Essex and a member of AMVETS
Auxiliary Post #201 in Ipswich.
She is survived by
three daughters, Susan Lee Doucette of LA, Patricia Jean Maclenen of
NH, and Nancy Grace Doucette Lyons of FL; nine grandchildren:
several
great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother
of the late Lynn Ann Doucette, formerly of Essex and sister of the
late Donald Monaghan formerly of Ipswich.
A Memorial Funeral Service
will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter
Funeral home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be
