Anne L. (Otten) Costello,
81, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and friend passed peacefully, in
the company of family, at her home on Friday May 23, 2014.
Anne was born in New York,
NY April 30, 1933 daughter of the late Brig. General William C.
and Carolyn C. (Wohlow) Otten. After her mother’s passing, she
became the step daughter of Billie Jean Otten. She married the late
Vincent “Mickey” Costello in 1959, soon to be blessed with two
lovely daughters, Simantha and Kim.
In life Anne was known for
her creative passion, adventuresome spirit and zest for life. A
lover of the arts she graduated with Masters from Columbia
University and The University of New Hampshire, and had a fulfilling
career teaching art. Above all else, the purest expression of Anne’s
spirit could be found in her art work and well tended friendships.
A teacher until the very
end, she will be missed for her unconditional love of life and her
unquenchable thirst for learning and teaching.
Anne is survived by her
two children, Simantha (Costello) MacLeod of Newburyport, Kim
(Costello) Lesko and her husband Jim of Gloucester; her brother and
sister in law Thomas and Marion Costello of Briarcliff Manor NY;
many nieces; nephews great nieces; great nephews and truly special
friends.
In lieu of flowers the
family asks that you commit a random act of kindness on behalf of
Anne: buy a child an ice cream cone, place a flag on a veterans
grave or shovel the steps of an aging neighbor.
A celebration of Anne’s
life will be held on Saturday July 12, 2014 from 1pm to 4pm at the
1640 Hart House, Linebrook Road, Ipswich. A private burial will be
held at a later date.
