Anne K. (Kennedy)
Alexson, 86, of Farley Avenue, Ipswich, died Monday September 27,
in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following her long
illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew W. “Doc” Alexson with
whom she shared fifty-seven years of marriage.
Born in Ipswich, May
7, 1924 the only child of the late Daniel F. and Hazel A. (Kemp)
Kennedy, she was a lifelong Ipswich resident, a graduate of Ipswich
Public Schools and Nasson College of Springvale, Maine. During WWII
she served her country in the U.S. Navy. Following her honorable
discharge in 1945 she returned to Ipswich, married and raised her
family on Farley Avenue. In addition to being a wife and raising
three sons, she was employed for several years by the Metropolitan
Insurance Company. She later went to work for the Internal Revenue
Service, retiring after more than twenty years of service. Mrs.
Alexson was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She and her family
enjoyed the many seasons spent at their Plum Island home. She was
also an accomplished tap dancer, dancing until the age of eighty,
and was a lifelong member of the Ascension Memorial Church.
She is survived by
three sons, William Alexson and his wife Valerie of Baltimore, MD,
Daniel F. Alexson and Andrew W. Alexson, Jr. and his wife Linda, all
of Ipswich. She is also survived by five grandchildren Brandon
Alexson of Baltimore, MD, Evan Alexson of Ipswich, Elizabeth Alexson
of Amherst, William Alexson USAF of Wichita, KS and Shane Alexson of
Ipswich, and two great grandchildren, Andria and Thea Alexson both
of Ipswich. She was the grandmother of the late Andrew W. Alexson,
III of Ipswich.
Her funeral service
will be held Saturday October 2, 11 am in the Ascension Memorial
Church, Ipswich followed by interment with Military Honors in the
Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully invited. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in her name may be made to the Ascension Memorial
Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich, MA 01938.
