Alice (Scott)
Morong Hulbert , 95, formerly of Rowley and Ipswich, wife of the
late Kenneth Morong and Walter Hulbert, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016
at Port Healthcare, Newburyport, following a brief illness.
Born in
Newmarket, NH June 3, 1920, Alice was the daughter of Roger and
Mildred (Woodman) Scott. Alice was a longstanding member of the
First Baptist Church in Rowley where she also taught Sunday school,
and later was a member of the Linebrook Baptist Church. Her
hobbies were knitting, crocheting, painting and sewing. She loved
being a homemaker, sewing curtains and other custom household items.
Because of her talents, she opened her store, "Doll World" in
Ipswich where she made dolls, their clothing and offered doll
repair. She also enjoyed gardening and planted many varieties of
flowers in her yard. Dogs were very special to her and she taught
her German Shepherd, Cindy, to count. Cindy would bark the answers
to questions which required a number answer. Over the years she also
had a cat and two dachshunds. The Village Pancake House in Rowley
was Alice's favorite restaurant for over forty years where she was
well-known and loved by the staff and many other steady patrons.
Alice was also a crossing guard for Ipswich Public Schools, a job
she loved.
She is survived
by many nieces and nephews who live in Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
Florida, California and Virginia, and her very helpful friend
through the years, Susan Elwell.
She was
predeceased by her parents and husbands, her brother, John Scott and
sisters, Pearl Peppard, Grace Guckert and Hazel Notrangelo, her half
brother and sister, Alfred Scott and Mildred Shaw, and three
nephews, John Peltier, Richard Guckert and Robert Guckert.
The Scott Family
would like to make a special note of appreciation to Port Healthcare
for the extraordinary care they provided for Alice.
A graveside service will be held Saturday March 5 at 10:00 am at the
Main Street Cemetery, Rowley. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may
be made to
Port Healthcare,
